February 13, 2007 Special Town Board Meeting

Special Town Board Meeting of February 13, 2007

Chairman Jeff Long called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m.  Also
present were Supervisor David Schuenemann, Clerk/Treasurer Lois Smith
and guests Cathy Schneider and  Steve Duba.

MOTION:LONG:  SECOND:SCHUENEMANN:  To approve the agenda as
presented.  MOTION CARRIED.

Chairman Long began by giving a brief history on the Tall Pines Music
Jam.  Planning has been going on about a year or so.  He and the BJ
Chamber Of Commerce had been approached about having the jam around
the same time as the 50th Musky Jamboree celebration in August, 2006. 
However, at that time, a lot of other events were taking place and
they advised the Looking East Entertainment Productions to contact
them at another time.  The jam would be a function of the Chamber of
Commerce with the town’s approval and contract as the land that would
be used is on a land use agreement with the WI DNR.  The jam is slated
to take place on June 23, 2007, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.  It would be a good
income opportunity from the concessions only for local organizations.
Comments were made by Steve Duba and Cathy Schneider.  Supervisor
Schuenemann questioned the chairman as to who would be in charge of
porta potties, parking and electrical hookups.  Chairman Long stated
the Looking East Entertainment Productions would be in charge of porta
potties and finding an electrician.  They may use a local electrician
who is familiar with our ballpark area and has done work at the site.
The Chamber of Commerce is in charge of parking.  The town would
assist in mowing the flats ahead of time.  The contract is between the
Chamber of Commerce and Looking East Entertainment Productions.  The
town would have a contract with the Chamber of Commerce because of our
control of the land use area and it will be drawn up to meet the
requirements of our insurance company and also the WI DNR.  It will be
reviewed by our attorney as well.  

MOTION/LONG:  SECOND/SCHUENEMANN:  To authorize the Tall Pines Music
Jam with conditions of insurance and liquor license items addressed
between the Town and the BJ Chamber of Commerce.  MOTION CARRIED.

Chairman Long added as an informational item that the communities of
BJ, Sayner and St. Germain will be having a joint bike trail
dedication beginning on June 2 and ending with a picnic at Crystal
Lake on June 3rd which is free parks day.  The chamber and WI DNR are
assisting in this cooperative effort.

p.m.
