March 29, 2007 Special Electors Meeting

Special Electors Meeting March 29, 2007

Present were Chairman Jeff Long, Supervisor David Schuenemann and
Clerk/Treasurer Lois Smith and 22 electors and 3 non-taxpayers.

Chairman Long called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.  He read the
public notice out of the Lakeland Times posting and also a letter from
the fire department requesting the permission of electors to build a
storage building on the town property where the present fire station
is located.  The  approximate cost of the building is $17,000 for a
48’x32’ building.  They are looking at Northland and Cleary Metal
Buildings and whoever can install it the earliest would have the best
chance of getting the purchase.  Taxpayer Steve Duba asked if the
building would be large enough for future use?  He felt that they
should consider going larger.  Discussion ensued. The department will
consider the suggestion of a larger building.   The building would
have a gravel floor for now and a poured concrete apron.  The inside
concrete floor could be installed later.  The suggested size of doors
would be 10’ but they would consider changing those also to a larger
door to accommodate the larger fire trucks.  For now the building
would store the 4-wheeler, boat and snowmobile and barbecue items. 
Plum Lake Fire Department is interested in the two smaller storage
buildings currently on site.  Taxpayer Dan Haag stated he is happy
that there is no cost to the community because the funds are coming
out of their savings account.  

Chairman Long stated he was proud of the volunteers and the managing
of their finances over the years.  

MOTION/STEVE DUBA:  SECOND/DENNIS REUSS:  To authorize the fire
department to install a storage building on town property.  MOTION
CARRIED with a voice vote.  There were no nays.

MOTION/BONNIE MENKE:  SECOND/DAN HAAG:  To adjourn the meeting at
7:15 p.m.  MOTION CARRIED with a voice vote.
