Special Town Board Meeting November 5, 2007 Chairman Jeff Long called the meeting to order at 7:43 p.m. Also present were Supervisors David Schuenemann and Charlie Spencer, Clerk/Treasurer Lois Smith, Jim Hanson, Policeman and guests: Ed Culhane, Lakeland Times Repr., Steve Duba, Russ Cluey, Ken Ehle, and Niles Franz. Chairman Long read the agenda. MOTION/SCHUENEMANN: SECOND/LONG: To approve the agenda as posted. MOTION CARRIED. Old Business: The suggestion of the fire chief position being paid in 2008 was discussed. Supervisor Spencer had asked at the October 29th board meeting if the BJ volunteer fireman had voted on the position to be paid. Chairman Long stated they had not yet voted. The next meeting for the fireman is November 12, 2007 and they will be taking a vote. If the body of volunteer fireman do not vote for the position to be paid, then the $2000 will go into the roads and gravel category. The increase for ambulance fees was again discussed. MOTION/SPENCER: SECOND/SCHUENEMANN: To approve the new 2008 ambulance fee schedule for 2008 as presented by the Fire Department. MOTION CARRIED. New Business: The Vilas County Board will be considering at their November 13th meeting whether or not to hire a full time Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Coordinator. At the recent meeting of the WI Town’s Association Vilas County Unit meeting, a resolution was passed to support the hiring of this AIS Coordinator. Discussion followed. MOTION/LONG: SECOND/SPENCER: To approve Resolution 2007-04 requesting Vilas County Board approve the AIS position for 2008 budget. MOTION CARRIED. Vilas County Ordinance 2007-1A, Chapter 28.06(3) now requires all existing public or private roads serving more than two (2) residences or lots shall be named. This process will be ongoing for possible up to ten years for the county. This is the first request for a road name. The people are currently using LaFave Road as their fire number and address. At the present, there are eight residences or lots on the private road which comes off of LaFave Road. The residents all received a letter from Vilas County that a name needs to be chosen for their private road. After speaking with Paul Lehmkuhl, resident, the name of Abe LaFave Trail was chosen and approved by all on the road. MOTION/LONG: SECOND/SCHUENEMANN: To approve the name of Abe LaFave Trail and to forward our approval to Vilas County. MOTION CARRIED. The 2008 budget was discussed. MOTION/LONG: SECOND/SCHUENEMANN: To approve the 2008 Budget at $1,157,970.93 for presentation at the Budget Hearing on November 27, 2007. MOTION CARRIED.
