October 29, 2007 Special Town Board Meeting

Special Town Board Meeting of October 29, 2007

Chairman Jeff Long called the meeting to order at 7:37 p.m.  Also
present were Supervisors David Schuenemann and Charlie Spencer,
Clerk/Treasurer Lois Smith and guests:  Jim Hanson, Ken Ehle, Arlene
Bozicnik and Steve Duba.

MOTION/SCHUENEMANN:  SECOND/SPENCER:  To approve the agenda as
posted.  MOTION CARRIED.

Operator license application for Theresa M. Winkler was reviewed. 
MOTION/SPENCER:  SECOND/LONG:  To approve application for Winkler. 
MOTION CARRIED.  Operator license application for James J. Haucke was
reviewed.  MOTION/SCHUENEMANN:  SSECOND/LONG:  To approve application
for Haucke.
MOTION CARRIED.

Chairman Long explained the request to have the Fire Chief position
be changed from a volunteer position to a paid position; suggested 
amount of $2000.  Discussion ensued.  MOTION/SPENCER: 
SECOND/SCHUENEMANN:  To table this decision until the next budget
meeting; because Mr. Spencer felt he needs to know what the wishes of
the volunteer fireman are and to have them report this to the board. 
MOTION CARRIED.

Chairman Long explained the request from the Fire Department to have
the fees increased for the ambulance use.  There has not been an
increase in fees since 2004.
A suggested amount was provided by Lifequest for all uses of the
ambulance by residents and non-residents.  There were some comparison
sheets available, however, there were some unanswered questions. 
MOTION/SPENCER:  SECOND/SCHUENEMANN:  To table this decision until the
next budget meeting to allow some further investigations on the
charges of ambulance fees from other municipalities.  MOTION CARRIED.

Chairman  Long explained the disposition methods of service weapons
for retiring police officers.  MOTION/LONG:  SECOND/SCHUENEMANN:  To
present retired policeman, Dennis Westphal with his service weapon,
which he used while employed with the Town, at the budget
hearing/special electors meeting on November 27, 2007.
MOTION CARRIED.

Chairman Long began reviewing the changes in the 2008 budget due to
the state levy.  Discussion ensued.  There is some work to be done,
i.e. fire chief position and ambulance fee increase and another
meeting will be needed. 

Bills payable were approved in the amount of $2413.73.

MOTION/LONG:  SECOND/SCHUENEMANN:  To adjourn the meeting at 9:07
p.m.
MOTION CARRIED.
